Book shop's service committment continues

ADVERTORIAL A small town shop with a city approach is Berry's Bookshop in Ohakune, and the store is now city size with a 30 m2 extension and redesigned layout.

Peter and Margaret Berry have been in their shop barely two years but they have already made an impact with their shop improvements, with the locals and by winning retailer's awards The store has been extended to make use of a staff room and a new section built on where an old shed was previously. The extensions are designed to allow the Berry's to improve the layout of the shop increasing the range of stationery and showing off their nursery and gifts departments to better advantage. They are now able to ensure some continuity in their displays, said Peter. A second counter and serving area has also been made possible. Mrs Berry said she will be able to better display the nursery items they have had for sale. She said it has been difficult to demonstrate

items such as prams and cots when they have to be got down from high shelves. Peter said there were many people who were not awqre they sold such lines because they were not displayed as well as they could be. The improvements can be described as being in four stages, the first being the larger card rack that was installed some time ago which allowed for a thousand extra cards. The second was the building extension, the third was the extra counter and the fourth is the much improved lighting. "The only reason we can make the shop bigger and better is because of the support of Waimarino people," said Peter. Margaret and Peter said that support has come about thanks to the efforts of their staff, Annette Schrier, Janet Duigan and Stu Magee, and past staff Jude Berry as well as paper helpers

Mathew Fetzer and Carys Hubbard. The book shop improvements continue the

"highly professional approach to retailing and dedication to excellent customer service,"

as described in their Central Region top retailer award that they won earlier this year.
