No gas study

King Country Electric Power Board has pulled out of the gas exploration study in the Stratford area before it had paid its $5000 share for the study. General manager Peter Till told the board at its meeting in Taumarunui last Friday that Auckland Electric Power Board had since pulled out of the study end that 12 shares of $10,000 each were now on offer to five power boards

plus other unspecified parties. The share would then entitle the board to a chance to spend $250,000 on drilling a well if it was satisfied with the study. "The situation appears to be fuzzy and unsatisfactory. I suggest the board would be wiser to invest its money elsewhere." Chairman Ken Street said the study was "pie in the sky" but worth examinipg.
