Quarterly figures up
While it would appear that the King Country Electric Power Board had been doing extremely well in the six months ended September 30 with surplus of $478,428 general manager Peter Till said the money was going to be spent over the summer. "Electricity purchases have an entirely different cash flow- impact this year being lower in winter and higher in summer," he said. "An extra $500,000 could be due this summer compared to last year. This is comparable with our traditional cash flow recovery from now until the end of the year." The good figure does not reflect uncompleted capital appropriations or work in progress, in the profit and loss section, which were included in the movement of debtors on the source and disposition of funds, said Mr Till.
Director Kit Wilson said he would like to see the budget, supplied to members quarterly at present, given out monthly. The key, he said, was to move progressively in a direction towards corporatisation. Tony Palmer agreed saying it was a vital management tool for the directors and while initially there might be some errors, it would probably settle down. Mr Till said he and treasurer Norm Annand would "have a bash".at a draft budget for the next meeting.
