Waiouru beerfest

BY

What a beerfest needs most is beer, and the Corporals Club 1990 Octoberfest on Saturday had plenty of it, forty five kegs to be precise. Judging by the amount of beer and wine, trestle tables and seats they expected a good sized crowd to take part in the Official 1990 Project. The "Oompah Band" playing was the Wanganui Garrison Pipe Band with music ranging from "Show me the way to go home" and "Lili Marlene" to "Daisy Daisy" and the "Bird Dance". Cpl Tim Witton explained that the idea of the Octoberfest was to provide a function that both corporals and pri-

vates could afford to go to. As it is a special year they decided to contact the 1990 Commission to make it an official project. Although they didn't get financial help they did get approval to put the official 1990 logo on the commemorative beer mugs. The Corporals Club would like to say a big 'thank you' to the organising committee, most of whom were up bright and early setting up the venue of Saturday morning: Cpls Monaghan, Witton, Foster, Swan, Wiersma and Ladbrook (assistant bar manager), L/Cpls Pullen (both) Rutherford, Harvey, (deputy PMC), Taylor, Millward and L/Bdr Harris.
