College holds careers day
Ohakune Police Constable Brian Wilson talks to a group of Ruapehu College pupils about joining the police force, during the recent college Careers Convention. All the school's pupils were given the opportunity to talk to representatives of various occupations and education institutes as part of the school's careers programme. Represented were: wood industry, veterinary, civil defence, real estate, funeral director, librarian, Department of Conservation, Massey University, armed services, dentistry, nursing and medicine, ambuiance, Palmerston North College of Education, Taranaki Polytechnic,law, banking, accountancy, cooking and catering, automotive engineer, electrician, plumbing and gas fitting, cabinet making, retailing, and computers. Most of the representatives were from local businesses, which the college really appreciated, said organiser Mrs Joan Manson.
