Waiouru Library needs more help

It would seem that the demise of the Waiouru Children's Library is imminent. The acting Librarian, Mrs Sharp, and five helpers need more volunteers to keep the library open. The library will have to

close three of the five days it is open unless some parents are prepared to take up the positions of secretary and librarian. Mrs Sharp feels that some people may be scared off by the idea that there is a lot of work involved. She says

it is neither difficult nor time consuming as the library is only open from three to four daily. The library has been in existence for over 10. years funded by the Army's Non Public funds grant and other organisations such as COGS.

The library not only has childrens books but puzzles, talking books, books for teenagers and adults. The library is generally well supported by the children with some days being extremely busy and other days fairly quiet.

Mrs Sharp says it is more of a person-power problem, where the community should be prepared to have an input into the library to keep it running. Anyone interested in helping can ring Mrs Sharp 56111 on ext:7187.
