Dump road rubbished

"A hell of a mess" is what is occuring when people take insecure loads of rubbish to the Ohakune dump. Waimarino Community Board members discussed the problem that exists with insecure trailer loads of rubbish being transported to the town's dump, situated on SH49. In some instances whole bags of rubbish had been recovered by works staff from verges. Committee members suggested placing a newspaper ad, advising the public of their responsibilities and the stiff penalties that may be incurred through littering. Policing the stretch of road between Ohakune township and the rubbish dump was another option.
