Know how to dial 111?

Telecom has produced a video explaining to people how to dial 111 in an emergency. The video is in response to the corporation's figures which they say show most failed emergency calls are the fault of the caller. For example, a caller in panic dialling too fast, a child that doesn't know how to use the phone, or an elderly person that becomes confused and dials the same number over and over. The 10 minute video will go to all schools plus community groups and will be translated into six languages. GST impact noted one year later Panic buying before last year's GST increase has impacted on the King Country Electric Power Board's turnover - one year later. Board member Terry Podmore asked why the receipts for June were $10,000 down on the same period last year. Secretary/Treasurer Norm Annand said many of the storage heaters sold in June had yet to be charged, as had a major job at Owhango, while general manager Peter Till said the GST increase last year had also had an effect.
