Power offices change

Alterations are to start soon on the King Country Electric Power Board offices in Taumarunui. The alterations will move all customer service personnel to the ground floor with technical staff on the top floor. Max McKenzie has been awarded the building contract for $14,175 because he has carried out all previous alterations and is familiar with the board's requirements. His price was marginally more expensive than the $13,925 price submitted by Graeme Cosford (who left the meeting while discussions on this subject took place.) The board is to look at a further option before letting the carpeting contract. The total bill for alterations is expected to be around $42,430.

Chairman Ken Street said the need to get all customer services on the ground floor was an urgent one. General manager Peter Till said the need to restrict public access to the top floor was highlighted by a burglary

two weeks ago. Burglar alarms are to be installed as a result. Board member Gordon Dobbs asked whether the burglary losses were covered by insurance and was assured they were, except for $1000 excess.
