Waiouru in division final

Ohakune Karioi played with far more vigour and enthusiasm than in previous weeks and comprehensively beat Marist 24-10 at Rochfort Park on Saturday in an entertaining game. The referee contributed to the game by playing a 50 minute first half and a 25 minute second half, by calling the game off ten minutes early after Marist repeatedly argued with the referee and used "a few tactics foreign to the game". The last incident involved a stiffarm tackle. The Ohakune forwards, with Steve Cameron, Richards Mathews and Richard Lindsay leading the way, dominated the Marist forwards in most phases of play. The Ohakune back line functioned far better with Ray Brown, Paddy Cornelius and Kevin

McMillan all playing outstanding games. Marist infringed on many occasions and Lachlan Harding turned the resulting penalties into points. Marist scored a try and two penalties but at no stage looked like beating Ohakune. Their points came from a try by Greg Carey and two penalties by D O'Connell. Scorers for Ohakune Karioi were Kevin McMillan - one try, and Lachlan Harding - six penalty goals and one conversion. Next week's game against Ratana is at this stage to be held at Marton. Ohakune Karioi Rugby Club are ^ppealing to the fixtures committee of the Wanganui

Union to have next Saturday's game against Ratana rescheduled to Ohakune because their last encounter was at Ratana and they feel they could expect to have a home game against them this Saturday. Waiouru vs Wanganui Counties Waiouru have made the grand final in the Wanganui First Division Rugby Competition after beating Wanganui Counties 12-10 at Waiouru on Saturday. Counties can still make the final if they beat Uitku on Saturday. Showing the commitment of the Waiouru team, Paul Rudolp played well despite hav-

ing strapped broken ribs. He was not expected to play but another flanker left the field injured. Pita Lloyd showed great form setting up a try from within Waiouru's half to take the side to a 12-6 lead with 10 minutes to go in the game and Pedro Van der Ent sprinted 45 metres to touch down. Waiouru's points came from a try and conversion and two penalties by Van der Ent. Wanganui Counties scorers were John Karatau a try and Dion Maua two penalties. Raetihi vs Huia Huia defeated Raetihi 21-6 on Saturday. Huia raced to a 15 nil lead at half time against the run of play. The Huia loose forwards bustled the Raetihi inside backs into error and then capitalised on the spilt ball.

The Raetihi forwards generally held their own but the weight disadvantage took its toll. Within a minute of the second half commencing Raetihi scored with a converted try. Ivan Hall initialised the move and fed the ball to Thomas Waara who scored. The second half remained even with Huia adding six points. The game was messy and did not have a lot of spectator appeal. Both teams endeavoured to run the ball but the error rate ensured that the game was a stop-start affair. Players to stand out for Raetihi were Marsh Tangaroa, Chris Bennett, . Rangi Bishop in the forwards and Ivan Hall, Gerard Hipango and Thomas Waara in the backs. Scorers for Raetihi - Thomas Waara try, Gerard Hipango conversion.
