Bridge tournament

On Sunday 22 July the Ohakune Bridge Club held their Annual Tournament upstairs in the Ohakune Club. Play consisted of two sessions with 23 boards per session and 34 teams competed, including players from Taumarunui, Turangi, Taihape and Wanganui. Results for each session as well as the overall results were as follows: Morning Session: lst J. Harrison and B. Langstone 69.29%, 2nd T. Heath and J. Parker 62.36%, 3rd R. Burton and J. Vernon 61.28%, 4th Q. Cleland and B. Smith 58.97% Afternoon Session:

lst L. Gould and J. Halligan 67.93%, 2nd R. McClaren and C. Thomas 66.98%, 3rd T. Heath and J. Parker 65.49%, 4th L. Burns and T. Ennis 60.33%. Oveyall placings: lst T. Heath and J. Parker 127.85, 2nd L. Gould and J. Halligan 121.33, 3rd R. Burton and J. Vernon 120.52. The most successful local partnership and therefore winner of the Ohakune Bridge Club Winter Trophy were Ron Martin and Heather Cranston who were placed 14th overall with a total of 105.98 points. The most successful junior partnership was that of Jenny Mottram andBillTe Karu.
