Ohakune scrapes through for win
Ohakune Karioi went into their game of rugby on Saturday at Spriggins Park needing a win and just scraped through by 16 points to 15 against Wanganui Marist. Wanganui Marist took full advantage of the strong wind and put on nine points against a somewhat lethargic Ohakune team. In the first few minutes after the tum around Ohakune
back line sparked into action with Lachlan Harding scoring a good try. With the Ohakune forwards picking up their pace slightly they went into the lead 10-9 with a good Steve Cameron try. Marist replied with another try leading 15-10 with just five minutes to go. Ohakune Karioi swarmed back onto attack, Lachlan Harding
scoring another good try, converting it to take the score to its final 1615. Steve Cameron, Lachlan Harding, Ray Brown, Mike wills all played good games. Ohakune's points came from tries by Lachlan Harding (2), Steve Cameron, and Lachlan Harding (2 conversions). Marist's points came from tries by Barry O'Leary and
Greg Carey and a conversion and penalty by Arlan Taylor and a conversion by Kerry O'Hara. Waiouru vs Marton Marton, beat Waiouru 17-16 at Waiouru on Saturday, with Rick T awhiri scoring two tries for Waiouru, Pedro Van der Ent touching down one and kicking two conversions. Peter Wasson and Ross Adrian scored tries
for Marton and Kelvin Chase kicked two penalties. Pirates vs Raetihi Wanganui Pirates beat Raetihi 38-0 on Saturday. Pirates' points came from tries by Solomon Sua (2), Kevin Lister, Frank Eynon, Guy Williams, Andrew Kaua, Eia Nua and five conversions by Jerome Nahona.
