Year-round radio coming
Southern Ruapehu listeners may soon have a year-round community radio station following the efforts of the Ruapehu District Council and the Broadcasting Commission. At the same time that the RDC was sounding out the possibility of extending King Country Radio's coverage to include the southern part of the district, the Commission made an announcement that they would subsidise the provision of a radio signal to Ohakune, Raetihi and Waiouru. City Radio of Wanganui would provide the signal in FM. The Commission would subsidise the broadcast and it would not be dependent on
advertising revenues from the area. Ruapehu general manager Cliff Houston has asked the Broadcasting Commission to Turnpage2
Radio
