Art awards return
Art appreciation returns to Ohakune in August with the 12th annual Ohakune Art Awards, once again with $5000 in prize money offered.
The premier award is worth $2000 with six $500 prizes in sections for best oil painting, best water colour, best in any other medium, best Waimarino entry, best life study, and the Barnes Young Artist Award. The Barnes Award is open to young artists between 16-25 years
entered in any of the other sections and the life study award is open to works showing human endeavour or activity as well as portraits. The competition is open to artists who normally reside in the area from Levin to Hamilton and entries close on Friday 17 Au-
gust. The exhibition of the works entered will be at the Ohakune Primary School Hall from Sunday 2 September, when a preview evening is to be held, until 12 noon on Saturday 8 September. Schedules for the competition are available from Kunikraft, Ohakune Library or by sending a self addressed envelope to: The Convener, 49A Arawa Street, Ohakune.
