Carnival thanks
Thanks to the generosity of local businesses the Ohakune Queen's Birthday Carnival was a suceess, say organisers. The wet weather didn't deter many and there was still a good number of locals and visitors there to see and take part in the activities offered. Special thanks go to the local growers association who not only gave carrots for various events but took part in 'the parade, the Caltex Oil Truck Pull, the tractor pull and the four-wheel-drive tug of war. Ohakune Tyres and Energy Centre, Cross Country Rentals and teh Ohakune Hntel were
also more than generous in their support. The RSBA also thanked Peter Berry who agreed at very short notice to compere the event. Others who were generous were Sassi's Restaurant, Nations Skiers Inn, Top Kids, Bucks Drapery, Ohakune TV & Electrical, Ohakune Sports and Gifts, Elders Pastoral, Ruapehu Motors, Ohakune New World, Video Point, Waimarino Wines, Berry's Bookshop, Sports Country, Wholesome Foods, Family Entertainment Centre, Ohakune Shoes, George Edwards, Ohakune Photo Pharmacy, The Hobbit, Turoa Skifields, Junction Ski Shop, The Ski Rack, The Sunbeam Lodge and Restaurant, Powderhorn Ski Shop, One of the more active helpers was Kadey Crowley, plus Phil Abel and behind the scenes, Raewyn Haworth.
