Police on skis this season

Turoa has its own police station this year, complete with a ski equipped constable. The Waimarino Police are using the Department of Conservation station at the Turoa Carpark' as a base, to be manned by Constable Greg Phillips. Waimarino sergeant Russell England said the increased crime rate on Turoa warranted stationing an officer on the field.
