Mountains to the sea race draws much interest

Having already received 95 individual and 40 team entries to the Mountains to the Sea multisports event, to run over Labour Weekend, organisers have increased the field to 180. Organiser Dave Bamford says although entries close on 30 July he expects the field to be full by the end of this month. Competitors already entered include some from Japan, Australia, Germany, Belgium and cover occupations from registered nurses to weasel tamers (?!) The prize list is so far over $20,000 and still growing for the race which starts at Whaka- * papa and ends at Wanganui.
