National Park school troubles on the mend
National Park School's troubles are on the way to being sorted out, according to the Board of Trustees, and now they want to be left alone to get on with the job of concentrating on the needs of the children. A new chairman of the National Park School Board of Trustees, Grant Rudkin, has been appointed following the resignation of Ray Cobb, and Bill Taylor, ex-Ohakune Primary School principal, has taken on the relieving principal position to replace Diane Manson, who handed her resignation to the board last Thursday. Until then she had been away on sick leave. The Bulletin understands the school's problems have been centred on the issue of taha Maori, with a group of parents wanting a bilingual unit set up immediately, while the board said they had insufficient funds for a unit at this stage. New board chairman Grant Rudkin said the board does want taha Maori taught at the school but that Tomorrow's Schools funding is limited.
