Slogans fail to find favour

All 35 slogans for the Ruapehu District Council drew a unified yawn at their last meeting. The council was asked to choose one of the 20 council slogans, or one of the 15 public submissions for adoption by the council. After some half-hearted comments, plus a few negative ones, Councillor Snow said if none jumped out as being the clear winner, then they should mull over the idea for a bit longer. Two that were mentioned as being possibles were "Ruapehu - Where Adventure Begins" and "Ruapehu - The Hub of the North Island". The public list included "Ruapehu - Mother Earth's Magic", "Rugged Ruapehu - Land of Inspiration", " Ruapehu - Mounting the Opportunities". One councillor thought "Ruapehu Central Park" sounded like the place one got mugged.
