Land agent still in business

The Waimarino' s sole resident real estate salesman, Keith Haitana is back in business.

In answer to the Bulletin story last week "Real estate service at risk" Mr Haitana showed the Bulletin a letter from the Real Estate Institute stating that his saies certificate, which allows him to operate in eonjunction with a Real Estate Agent, has been renewed for the current

licensing year and was ready to be uplifted. Under the Real Estate Agents Act a saies certificate has to be attached to a licensee, such as Elders Real Estate. The licensing board's letter stated that they had been advised that Mr Haitana was no longer engaged by Elders but that he was

He said before it was sorted out he had considered going to another agent but that he was overall fairly happy with Elders Real Estate so would stick with them. "The service I'm of-

fering is the same as that of the past seven or eight years," said Mr Haitana. In the board's letter they stated that the company could apply for a remote located salesman's certificate, despite having been turned down for one in 1987. "It may be that the situation has altered... and that the board might be prepared to

consider such an application," said the Board's representative. Mr Haitana said he will continue to operate under his present certificate but would apply for the remote certificate. He said the situation, and the associated publicity, had damaged his business but was pleased it was sorted out in time for the ski season.
