Railway disregard
So, we are to be without a railway station! Last week's news item (in the Bulletin) about the intended sale of the Ohakune railway station building with a view to removal is bad news for train travellers and for those of us who have to meet or farewell friends travelling by train. If the building is sold and removed there will be no protection, what-
soever from the weather while waiting for trains on a bare platform exposed to wind, rain and even snow. Judging from the recent publicity about the present condition of the Ohakune Railway Station, this latest move to sell the building without considering the consequences, is yet another example of the disregard and contempt shown by Mr Allum and NZ Railways for the interests and concerns of this community. Mr Allum should never have been allowed to acquire that historic building unless he could guarantee its maintenance and preservation and NZ Railways should never have sold it to him unless that condition was met.
