Waiouru finds doctor
The Commander Army Training Group. Colonel Philip Maguire last week announced that Dr Sarad Patel had agreed to become the civilian GP for the Waiouru Community. Dr Patel will commence work on Monday 28 May and has agreed to an initial 12 month contract. Dr Patel, who is a British citizen is a graduate of the highly respected Guys Hospital in London. He has had a wide range of experience in Britain both in hospitals and as a GP> Before taking up this appointment Dr Patel was employed by the Manawatu-Wanganui Area Health Board. ■ ■■■■■■■■■■■
Colonel Maguire, in announcing the appointment said he was most grateful for the support of the Ruapehu District Council and in particular Mayor Garrick Workman and the Manawatu-Wanganui Area Health Board for their assistance in obtaining the services of
Dr Patel. Col Maguire also noted the community's appreciation of the efforts of Dr Stuart Wilson who has carried much of the burden for medical care in the Waiouru community both civil and military, since Dr Harvey left Waiouru at the end of February 1990.
