TONGARIRO RAFT RACE

Turangi Lions are holding their annual raft race on the Tongariro River this Sunday, 18 March. They expect 50 -100 rafts to take part in the event which does not require high-tech rafts, but has an emphasis on safety. All crew members must wear life jackets and are also encouraged to wear helmets. Racers gather at Ilam at the Boulder Reach and set off at 1.30pm. The finish line is at Taunahi Reserve.
