The Waimarino Rescue Trust helicopter has been called out a number of times in recent weeks including on 30 January. The helicopter, piloted by Jim Reed, was called to transport a two year-old child from Koriniti to Wanganui Hospital after he had fallen from a two story building. The child was suffering from back injuries. On Friday 26 January a nine year-old Tauranga boy was knocked off his bike outside the Raetihi Motor Camp. He was taken by the WRT helicopter to Wanganui Hospital, suffering from head and leg injuries. He was last reported as being in a stable condition. Last Friday a 25 year-old Ohakune man was reported missing while hunting on Mt Ruapehu. A search and rescue operation was mounted and he was subsequently located with the use of the WRT heliconter.
