ELECTRICITY SUPPLY PRIVATISATION NOT SUPPORTED
Privatisation of the electricity supply authorities won't produce efficiency gains, according to the Opposition spokesman on energy Merv Wellington. He says that view is held "virtually unanimously by the supply authorities. Also, he claims many officials in the industry agree with that view. He adds that the prospect of rural customers having to absorb the full economic cost of their supply is contrary to the national interest.
