OHAKUNE DISTRICT COURT

The following cases were heard by Judge Toomey at the Ohakune District Court on Thursday 19 January.

Adam Dominic Stephen Haitana, 23, unemployed, was jailed for six months for unlawfully taking a motor vehicle last September. The vehicle had been stolen in Raetihi b.y others who had picked him up hitchhiking on the Parapara Highway. Haitana, knowing the

car to have been stolen, took over driving in Wanganui and was apprehended in Hunterville. Judge Toomey said community based sentences imposed on Haitana in the past had failed to achieve the results necessary, so jailed him.
