BLUE DUCK SURVEY IN RUAPEHU RIVERS

Department of Conservation staff have been working on a study of whio (blue duck) in the Whakapapa and upper Wanganui rivers in the past week. The staff have been catching and banding the ducks for a study by Wellington scientist Duncan Cunningham, who is working on blue duck distribution in the area, specifically away from their parental territories. People observing blue ducks who note their location and the colours of the ducks' leg bands are asked to pass on the information to DoC.
