Poor interest in Waiouru meeting

BY

TM

After advertising well in advance of the Waiouru Community Board meeting, board members are unhappy with the nil attendance of the public to the board's meeting. A Board spokesperson said the board requires feed-back from the Waiouru community in order to see things that the community may want done, and that things may not happen of the community does not help their elected board members. The board spokesperson said that all meetings are advertised in the Ruapehu Bulletin

and that all meetings are open to the community. Last week the Waiouru Community Board discussed several matters, including a subdivision in Waiouru, road improvements, Waiouru's budget, liaison with Defence and the litter issue which is a problem especially along the main road. A board spokesperson said that these matters were really for the Rupaehu District Council to discuss. An item that was discussed was the support to be given to the Waiouru Youth Group, Nia Carter is to be the Board's representative on the Youth Group committee.
