Holiday help from MPs
The ATG Military Police have offered residents in the Waiouru community some handy hints for house security whilst residents are away on holiday. The military police advise residents to leave a house key with a trusted friend or neighbour as the military police will not accept keys for safe custody. In the event of a break in or other suspicious activity, the key holder can accompany the military police should an internal inspection of the quarters be necessary. The military police
have proformas that residents can complete advising the MPs when the resident is due to leave Waiouru and return. Also on the form is space for other information that can be passed onto the MPs. Hints Stop milk delivery, stop mail delivery, have a neighbour collect sale catalogues instead of letting them build up over the holiday period, consider the use of timers (available from electronic retailers) to activate lights etc at different times in the
evenings to make your house appear as if people are still there, have a friend or neighbour occasionally check your property for you, be aware! - most burglary or break-ins occur during the day. To combat this effectively start a neighbourhood watch. Over the break the camp will be manned. If there are 'any problems get in touch with the duty MP or the camp duty officer. The military police reminds the Waiouru community to enjoy their holiday, but Don't Drink and Drive.
