CHORAL SINGERS LOOK AT OHAKUNE

A group of choral singing association officials converged on Ohakune last week to look at the planning for the 1990 Labour Weekend "Ohakune Odyssey" - a choral singing gathering of upwards of 1000 singers. The group looked at possible venues and accommodation options and discussed the "nuts and bolts" of organising the event. The event would see a blending of a number of ethnic group singers, who would attend various singing workshops and come together for one large "sing-in". The idea of meeting in Ohakune for groups from all over New Zealand was fused with the thought of a journey for all singers, and for meeting on "neutral ground".
