Riding standards up

The Waimarino Pony Club's recent annual Dressage Day was well patronised by local riders of all ages.

The standard of dressage is starting to show some improvement, and this is mainly due to the local instructors dedication, and riders becoming more aware that dressage is very important to the development of the horse or pony's muscles, agility and strength, not only in the dressage phase but in cross country and show jumping activities. The Gamblers' Day on Sunday last week was held in inclement weather but most riders coped well with the conditions. Competition was very keen in the 11-13 years and 14-16 years age groups. The Pony Club Committee wish to ex-

tend their grateful thanks to all supporters who sat it out in the rain to be jump judges and officials.
