WARD BOARD MEMBERS' ALLOWANCE DECISION DEFERRED
The Ruapehu District Council has accepted the recommendation from the district's community boards to defer setting board member's annual allowances until it is clear what the work load will be, The recommendation included the payment of the maximum meeting allowance of $85 plus travelling expenses. Councillor Eddie Turley was picked as Community Board chairman for National Park at their first meeting on 13 November, and Councillor Bobby Vine was chosen Waiouru Ward chairman on 15 November. Mr Turley was chosen by the toss of a com after he and board member Geoff McGuire tied with four votes each.
