Speech contest

The ITC speech contest held in Raetihi on 9 November provided the judges with a difficult task when a three way tie for first place was announced by the speech convener, Keitha Journeaux. After a five minute adjournment, Leigh Berry was announced winner and Jean Windle second. The judges were Daphne Steel President of ITC Council 8 Palmerston North, Dun-

can Harvey and Jennifer Godfrey. The title of the winning speech was, "Getting around to it." Other titles ranged from "A hole in the sky - the Ozone Layer," "Political clout" to 'Curiosity." Also, the Ruapehu ITC debate team has won their first round of the debate by default. The moot was, "That lacy lingerie leads to love."
