Festive season hits Waiouru

The first Waiouru Family Christmas Carnival over the weekend was a success despite a power failure according to Captain Peter Pitts.

Captain Pitts and his and preparation pay off organising saw their with an excellent long hours of hardwork turnout bv the Waiouru

community. From the very start of the carnival sausages were been sizzled, games were been played children enjoying the huge jumping jack castle, parents busy browsing through the stores ensured the organisers that the community was involved in their own Christmas carnival. By mid-morning Santa arrived in a very colourful sleigh along with his little helpers. Immediately Santa was surrounded not only by

children but also parents too, all eager to talk to Santa. The Waiouru schools also got behind the carnival with several competitions been run. Throughout the morning children and parents were decorating their school's Christmas tree and Kenningston Kindergarten did very well with their decorated tree. Santa was asked to judge the best trees. From the best decorated tree to the best decorated bikes and a

poster competition organisers made sure that nobody was left out to enjoy the day. The power failure which occurred in the early afternoon spoilt the Punch and Judy show for the children and also other indoor shows. However, Captain Pitts said apart from that disappointment the Waiouru community will have another family carnival next year. Competition results: Best Decorated Turnpage 3
