Band for hire

Looking for entertainment to help celebrate Christmas and the New Year? The Taihape "Dance Merchants" with local vocal singer Marie Scarrow (nee Marie Workman) can present to you a valuable night of entertainment to suit any mood. The group has been around for about six years. The members, David Srhoj (drummer), Fred Hammer (guitarist), Robert Webb (trumpet player), Neil Mickelson (base player) and Marie Scarrow (vocalist), are all from musical backgrounds with years of experience behind them. Base player Neil Mickelson, during the

seventies, was a member of the "Creations" band and also of "Daggy and the Dickheads." Marie, an exmember of the Ohakune Country Music Club has also worked with bands touring the Northern Territory of Australia. The band's style is described as very relaxed and friendly. The members enjoy conversing with their audiences and making sure everyone is having a great time. Their music generates the briskness of rock 'n' roll, the uptempo of such entertainers as Kylie Minoque and Natalie Cole, the passiveness of the waltz and the alertness of the foX-trot and twostep.
