"Florence of the Waimarino" leaving

This week a Bulletin bouquet goes to Waimarino District Nurse Di Baker, "Florence of the Waimarino" to her mates.

Di Baker is transferring to Wanganui after six years as district nurse and 14 year's work at the hospital. "Above the call of duty, she has cared for the elderly so well, doing extra chores such as

washing, shopping, paying bills and even chopping firewood," says a hospital informer. "She has provided an on-call caring service for so many troubled people, her advice is

always sound and her voice always so reassuring. Many are familiar with the ready smile with the blue uniform jand her dependability." Di Baker's duties have included running appointments for various clinics, bathing the elderly, giving advice, public health education

and finding time to work at the hospital three days a week. Our informer tells us Di's recent involvement with rock 'n roll in the area has, rather than make her rebellious, seen her do her rounds even quicker! As well as her nursing work Di has been involved with numerous community activities and has been active on a number of committees. She leaves her job this week.
