Cancer support group meets

Cancer support group members and interested people were at a meeting Monday last week to discuss how the local group was doing and to raise funds. The meeting was held at Jim and Norma Cranston's home, where a bring-and-buy was held. The group heaxd that

past and present Waimarino Hospital staff donated $1000 to the support group. Cancer Society executive officer Robin Brassington attended the meeting as did the Welfare Co-ordinator for the Wanganui - Waimarino - Rangitikei Region Joyce Brown, from Wanganui. The cancer society

support group was formed to give practical assistance, but not nursing assistance, to cancer patients and their families. They operate on the basis of people needing help approaching them. Local co-ordinators are Betty Longcroft (54609) and Val Parkes (58315).
