Season's first Raetihi serve

The Raetihi Tennis Club got off to a wonderful start for the season last weekend with the Junior opening held on 28 Saturday October with 26 juniors all very keen to get started.

Coaching takes place from 9.30 to Ilam Saturday mornings with all phases of coaching given. Senior Opening took place on Sunday 29 October with a Yankee

tournament held and approximately 30 players taking part. Mrs Eva Hansen, the oldest past member of the Club, officially opened the new season by serving the first

ball. Due to a very successful season last year the club is able to keep the subscriptions at the same level this year: $6 juniors, $12 intermediates, $20 senior, $23 couple, $25 for family and country members half the normal subscription with the exception of juniors. The club claims these subscriptions are the lowest probably in the whole of New Zealand. This is to encourage people to play tennis and to make the game more affordable for those wishing to participate. The family subscription at $25 covers parents and all children attending school. Twilight tennis is on again and started on Tuesday 31 October with 11 teams. Since then two more teams have been accepted. The first night had a bit if a hesitant start with sev-
