Gathering flowers a pleasure

By

Donna

McGrath

Jocelyn Lilburn, Raetihi's popular self taught florist with a diploma from Interflora, has spent most of her life enjoying the "gathering up" and

"putting together" of flowers with her own special feeling behind them. • Jocelyn sells those gifts of thought in her own shop called "Joce's Flowers." Born in Raetihi, Jocelyn has spent a happy 52 years in the area. She spent a small time away from Raetihi when she was young to train as a dental nurse. For as long as Jocelyn can remember she has been exposed to either gardening on a large scale or playing around with flowers. Her family home on

Motete Road can still be remembered for its beauty alone. Her idea to open up a shop began when her youngest son Bruce attended college and had to be driven to the bus each day. To make up for dead time Jocelyn opened Joce's Flowers. With her introduction to Interflora and Teleflora Jocelyn has the chance to travel and experience floral art at its best. Though she finds her hobby expensive and her time well taken up Jocelyn has a great advantage in her venture having lived in the area

. and knowing so many people personally as well as their home decor. Jocelyn says she

looks upon each special gift and every phone call as a separate challenge and new reward.
