Ceramics prizes
By Donna McGrath Three students from the Raetihi ceramic studio brought home prizes for their workmanship from a recent A & P show held in the Hawkes Bay. Twelve entries were placed in the show under four groupings: underglazing, stain, glazing and multi media. The three prizewinners were: Rose Bowring, lst in the novice glaze; Sharlene Aranui, third in the multi media; and Maxine Mills third in the stain section. Iso-
belle Haitana was highly commended in the underglaze. The women used individual skill and imagination to produce different effects from their work. They incorporated natural resources
such as sand to create texture and add dimension to their art. While in the Hawkes Bay the group visited a large ceramic studio to see an operation of a much larger scale.
