Taupo fishing

Lake: Harling in the early morning is producing good results with a surprising proportion of the fish taken being prime maiden fish. Deep trolling during the day is also producing good results. Smelting along the lake shore has yet to take off although some reasonable fishing is occurring around some of the more exposed points. River mouths: Fishing is improving par-

ticularly after dark, but overall, the action is still quiet. However as the smelt move in, river mouth fishing should improve further. Rivers: The runs are largely over for the year and most fish taken are spent fish returning to the lake. Lake Otamangakau: The lake is beginning to stir from its winter doldrums and several good fish were reported last week.
