Raetihi firefighters honoured
On Saturday 14 October the Raetihi Volunteer Fire Brigade held an honours night. The evening consisted of a barbeque and social and celebrated the 70th birthday of life member George Chan. Receiving honours were: Tom McCann, 21 years Silver Bar, Fireman; Dave Griffin, 23 years Silver Bar, Deputy Chief; Keith Kui, 7 years Silver Bar,
Fireman; John Summerhays, 11 years Silver Bar, Fireman; Robert Dowman, 13 years Silver Bar, 3rd Officer. During the year three members had gold bars added to their long service and good conduct medals: Deputy Chief, Dave Griffin, 1 bar for 21 years; Chief, Alex Weir, 2 bars for 28 years; Fireman, Alan Bowater, 3 for 35 years.
