"Where was Maungarongo Marae support?"

I have attended the gala held at the Maungarongo Marae, Burns Street on Saturday. The weather was terrible, the gala was warm and friendly and all under cover. The lack of support by the

people of the Waimarino was to say the least, astonishing. The people of the Maungarongo Marae are all long standing citizens of this area and they certainly support us.

Every community organisation in this district, has at times turned to the Marae to ask for help and is has always been given. Our local schools are always looking to the Marae for their culture clubs and for their s'pecial events. Our Maori people add an extra dimension to our children's lives for the better. The people from the Marae are involved in our churches, our schools, our organisations. Why are we not involved in the one day they ask us to help them raise funds. Where are our cakes and donations. Where were we!!!!?

Concerned

Waimarino

citizen.
