TANGIWAI MEMORIAL AREA TO BE SEALED

The council and Ruapehu Lions are to work on sealing the Tangiwai Memorial carpark and entrance way. The Lions Club asked for council assistance with the project, saying they were about $7000 short in funds. Part of the money will come from the rural ward's reserves fund and the shortfall of about $1000 will come from the Ohakune Ward's reserves fund. Reasons given for the project were that the site has become a popular stop for tourists and that the work will ease future maintenance problems.
