RUAPEHU SKIING ENDS WITH LABOUR WEEKEND

The 1989 ski season ended for Turoa and Whakapapa on Monday 23 October. At the time the Bulletin went to press on Saturday skiers were enjoying a late fall of snow which meant good skiing at Turoa on the three T Bars and the top section of the Giant Chairlift and on the Valley, Waterfall, Knoll Ridge and Far West T bars at Whakapapa. Some skiers were spotted late Friday picking their way to the car park at Turoa thanks to the snowfall last week. The closure decisions, made last' week, were not due to lack of snow with upper levels still well covered.
