Gumboot city ceremony

A unique ceremony is taking place on Taihape on Wednesday night, 4 October. Officially named "Gumboot City Graduation Ceremony", the function is to be held in the Taihape Town Hall at 8pm. The function is being held both to commemorate the end of an era for Taihape District, and to celebrate the official launch of "Taihape's New Era - 1990 and Beyond". Over 150 guests are expected to attend the ceremony.

man of the Weeds and Dogs committee. In 1984 he was appointed a member of the Tongariro United Council. In 1988 Mr Grimmer was appointed as representative for the Taumarunui district on the Central Districts Catchment Board. He has served on a number of Tribunals and special committees of the Catchment Board which is based in Palmerston North. Mr Grimmer said that after all the upheaval and change of the last few years he wanted to see a new era of stability and consolidation. He is anxious to see old parochial thinking laid to rest as the new councillors come together to work for the

total district. Mr Grimmer also stresses the absolute necessity of getting a younger member onto the Re-

gional Council in order to provide continuity and balanced representation in years to come.
