Voters: you will be choosing five different types of representative

/ Soon, electors, you will be receiving your voting papers for the local government elections

As you are aware, there has been massive restructuring in the way we will be represented in this new local government system. Many people may be unsure about who they can or can't vote for, so the following is an explanation of how it is to fit together. All Ruapehu voters All voters in the Ruapehu District have the right to vote for one mayor, to represent all the people of the new Ruapehu District and to lead the new district council. You also have the right vote for two people to represent the Ruapehu District on the new Manawatu/ Wanganui Regional Council. Waiouru voters If you live in the Waiouru ward you have the right to vote for six people to represent you on your Waiouru Community Board. These people will deal with matters to do with local government specific to Waiouru. You also have the right to vote for two people to represent you on the Ruapehu District Council. These two people will represent you and the other people of Waiouru on the new Ruapehu District Council. They will also be responsible for deciding policy which will affect all people of the Ruapehu District. Waimarino Ward If you live in the Waimarino ward you

have the right to vote for six people to represent you on your Waimarino Community Board. These people will deal with matters to do with local government specific to the Waimarino. You also have the right to vote for three people to represent you on the Ruapehu District Council. These three people will represent you and the other peo-

ple of the Waimarino on the new Ruapehu District Council. They will also be responsible for deciding policy which will affect all people of the Ruapehu District. National Park Ward voters If you live in the National Park ward you have the right to vote for six people to represent you on your National Park Community Board. These people

will deal with local government matters specific to National Park. You also have the right to vote for two people to represent you on the Ruapehu District Council. These two people will represent you and the other people of the National

Park area on the new Ruapehu District Council. They will also be responsible for deciding policy which will affect all people of the Ruapehu District. And last but by no means least, Waimarino and Waiouru voters have the right to vote for three people to the

new Manawatu Wanganui Area Health Board and National Park ward voters can vote for one person to the new Waikato Area Health Board. So you will be voting for five different types of local government representative. Clear as mud? Good.
