I have served Waiouru as the elected representative on Rangitikei County for the past six years and I am proud of what we have achieved in that time. A tidy subdivision, curb and channeling plus tarsealing on all streets, the removal of an unsafe building and the promotion of new attractive business premises to serve Waiouru and the passing motorists. We instigated a commercial rubbish collection but our proposal for a weekly household collection at a cost of $45 per year was rejected by all but two of the ratepayers. Given one more year the Ruanui Street subdivision would have been completed right through to Andrews Drive. At the 'Meet the Candidates Meeting' on Monday 18 September an allegation was made by Mr Gordon Mottram that Waiouru had inadequate representation on the Transition Committee. What rubbish, as your representative on that committee I was in regular contact with a number of the Main Road ratepayers and

also with Army command. The chairman of the Transition Committee Garrick Workman was always completely fair and made sure that all transition members had every opportunity to express their views. I am confident that if people such as Garrick Workman and Bob Vine get selected Waiouru will continue to progress and prosper.

'The best Rally in N.Z." is how organisers describe the Mobil, Rangitikei St, 2ZA Daybreaker rally which was raced recently. The rally started from Palmerston North at midnight Friday and finished at approximately 2pm Saturday in Taihape. There were 57 entrants in the race made up of 14 stages. On completion of stage 11 through 16km

of private army roads the Toyota Dealer Team of mark Jennings and Rodney Hicks driving a 2.0 litre Toyota Celica Turbo held a 4 minute lead. The Daybreaker Rally is held annually and is the final round of the Central region Championships.
