Health kudos
Like many local people, I have been concerned at the run-down of health services in our area. Our experiences over the last two weeks, have in many ways, reassured us. With the illness of our daughter, she used the family doctor, the maternity unit of„ Waimarino Hospital, a visiting specialist, the ambulance service, A &
E unit at Wanganui, the laboratory, a surgical team, the intensive care unit, five days in a surgical ward, another ambulance trip and is now convalescing back at Raetihi hospital, in the general wards. The support given to her husband and family was very much appreciated. In no way was she even just a 'client'. Her unborn baby remained safe and well through all the trauma. As an ex-theatre nurse, and one who spent fifteen years nursing in Raetihi, I am grateful for the special skills of all who cared Turn page 6
From page 4 for her, and for both hospitals for being available to her. Our thanks to our family doctor and the Wanganui Area Health Board.
