$2 million lift ticket

I would like to take this opportunity to salute the genius shown by the management of Turoa Skifield. I used to think that they were blundering in the dark, out of touch with their customers, the mountain, the economy, and even with reality, but enlightenment has dawned and now I see the simple brilliance of their scheme. The problem with a skifield is not the weather, or shortage of snow, or how to keep the good members of the staff from leaving; it is customers. Do away with the customers and all the rest falls into place. They have discovered that if they raise their lift prices, (not to mention food prices) by 10%, then customers will fall off by 13%. This has been demonstrated over three winters now and can be

considered to be self evident truth. The next obvious step is to raise the prices until one customer is left paying the whole cost of operation. If they can find a •purchaser of the $2 million lift ticket, all their troubles will be over. Ohakune will no longer be needed, and all the happy skiers will be able to go to Whakapapa and receive realisticsvalue for their money. Good on you Turoa, you beauty.
